pdf with fields from db then print

I'm on a roll and am about to stop asking and start reading to catch up to myself...

There are three or four pdf documents used in the process for which i am working on my marathon project. I've been reviewing the PRINT DOCUMENTS videos to try to get a better handle on how best to accomplish this. I recall (hazily) last time i did similar, back in probably the 1990's, i think i was able to take a pdf, make it into a background for either a form or report, draw fields onto it and be able to then populate those fields from Access and print out the document.

Please understand that i am only now approaching the point that i will start to get into reports; i know next to nothing about their construct other than they are similar to constructing forms. I also have good reason to question my recollection.

Is there means of creating some kind of object that can use a pdf as a background? If not, or other reason, should i convert the pdf to a bmp and use that as a report or form background and overlay the fields upon that, or is there any other best practice? I would rather not have to recreate the forms, especially one that is a two-pager of 6 pt type... I also believe that there is a way of sending the fields to an open pdf file, but if i can avoid any use of Adobe i am so much happier.

Many Thanks, Merry Christmas!

Yes, that was an alternative in case i couldn't print the pdf direct to a bmp (or the like) if i could not use the pdf directly! I use that tool many times throughout the day, have that and Notepad always ready-

Thank you,
-Bruce

Is there a "Best" file type to use for reasons of clear print resolution?
