Several people have emailed me saying that they're having a problem with my Video Player software. When some people install the Player and subsequently download one of their courses, the Course Listing shows up as blank - not even showing the "Welcome" video that installs with the Player.
So far, only about 5 customers have reported this problem, and it happens with Windows XP too, so I can't just blame Windows. I wasn't able to fix it because I couldn't reproduce the problem on any of my machines.
I finally was able to get my laptop to exhibit the problem, however. My laptop is running Windows XP, so this is the perfect opportunity to fix it. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am working on the problem and hope to have a solution today.
In the mean time, if you have this problem, you can STILL watch your courses, but not in the Video Player. The courses themselves are making it on to your hard drive just fine, but for some reason my software is not reading the directory list, so it doesn't show them.
If you open up My Computer or Windows Explorer and go to your "X:\Program Files\599CD" folder (where X: is your primary Windows drive, usually C:) then you should see a folder for every installed course, like:
C:\Program Files\599CD\Windows 101
C:\Program Files\599CD\Word 101
C:\Program Files\599CD\Word 102
etc.
Just open up that folder, and you will see numbered course files for each lesson in that particular class. If you double-click on them (starting with the lowest-numbered course, obviously) you can watch the whole class in Windows Media Player.
The only thing you're really missing out on is the Student Forum that appears with each class - which is basically what my software does. You can find those all online too by going to the course page on the web site:
http:\\www.599cd.com\windows
http:\\www.599cd.com\word
http:\\www.599cd.com\excel
etc.
That's all. Again, I hope to have this issue fixed today, now that I can see the problem.
Thanks.
