They temporarily took it down due to a trademark issue. I was using Microsoft's official Access logo as part of my Access Learning Zone branding - something I've been doing for nearly 20 years (I just looked it up. I registered the domain in September 2005.)
According to Microsoft's trademark policy, fair use does allow me to use their logos in my videos, educational materials, and on my website because I'm teaching Microsoft products. However, it does not allow me to sell merchandise with their logo on it. So in this case, Spreadshop was right to take it down. I'm surprised TeePublic hasn't. Hmmm... anyways...
To fix the issue, I've redesigned the logo. I removed the official Access logo and created a new one using a generic database "drum" icon, which has been a universal symbol for databases since the days of paper flowcharts - long before Microsoft Access existed. The colors are similar, but it's not Microsoft's logo.
This new logo is unique, and it should comply with trademark rules. I'll be slowly updating it across all my videos so everything stays consistent. Eventually.
If you want to grab some Access Learning Zone swag, use the link up top. They've got everything from T-shirts to hoodies to hats to mouse pads. Check it out. Show off your ALZ swag! :)
Oh, and if you were one of the few people to get an order through on Spreadshop before they took the stuff down, you might still get your merch. Because according to their website, I got a few items that I ordered for myself that are en route. So, we'll see.
