Update to Next Unseen
Richard Rost

I just made an update to the next unseen feature on the website. When you use it, it will now go through your notifications first.

Any notifications that you have to pages that you are subscribed to (like the Access Forum or comments in threads that you've previously been engaged with that you're watching) will show up on your notifications page (except for likes). The next unseen feature will go through those first.

That's what I like to do every day. I go through my notifications, and then I start running through the next unseen as I have time. So I figure why not just merge them together? This way you will first see conversations that you're involved in. And then when those are all cleared, it'll start going through the actual new posts in the blog and new comments and stuff.

So I hope everybody likes this new update. And no, there isn't any way to turn it off. If you guys really don't like it, post a comment and I'll consider making it an option.

I like it. However, now I'm getting tons of posts that have been closed for over a year. Is there a chance you can exclude closed posts?

And yes, you definitely rock!

Closed posts? I thought you and Kevin both reached the end of the internet.

This algorithm doesn't look at the 'closed' flag at all. It simply looks at whether you've seen it or not.

Yeah, definitely performing better, but as Kevin and Sammi said, I'm closed posts as well. Not that I mind getting more insights into other questions that have been posted or older posts.

Is it closed posts that you guys have seen already, or is it closed posts you haven't seen? I haven't changed that algorithm at all, so I don't know why it's giving you closed posts. Unless for some reason you didn't see those closed posts the first time around, and now the algorithm is just fixed.

I'm guessing just stuff we haven't seen. I'm getting, for instance transcripts and quizzes from videos from 4 months ago (Attendance 3/4)

Yeah, I'm wondering if I should take transcripts and quizzes out of that unseen algorithm. They are just comments.

Yes, that will make the list more manageable. No transcripts, no quizzes, and no closed posts.

OK. Added to the list.
