The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.

Glorious Offerings from Kevin
Richard Rost

Great joyous thanks resound through the halls of this house to moderator Kevin, son of a noble lineage, bringer of tribute, deliverer of honor, who has sent forth glorious offerings to my quarters: Tribble Kibble... and not one... but TWO decks of Star Trek playing cards.

Let it be sung that the Tribble Kibble has been examined by the High Council (me), inspected for hidden Federation trickery, and declared pure. No sabotage. No subspace tampering. No suspicious purring.

The twin decks of cards, sent in duplicate, reveal the cunning wisdom of a true warrior. One deck shall be opened and wielded in honorable combat at the gaming table, where fierce battles of War shall be fought (a contest clearly forged in the fires of Qo'noS). The other shall remain sealed, untouched by time, preserved in immaculate condition, and placed upon my Trek shelf... where it shall stand watch over the room and silently judge the unworthy.

These artifacts have claimed their rightful place among relics of great cultural and tactical significance. Not hidden. Not stored. Not forgotten.

Displayed... as all trophies of honor must be.

Raise your voices and let the cry be heard across the quadrant:

Qapla', Kevin. Your generosity has brought glory to this house, and your name shall be spoken with respect in the Great Hall.

And by the way, in case you're wondering, this is only a small portion of my Trek stash. As you can imagine, I've accumulated quite a collection over a lifetime of fandom, but I still haven't fully unpacked since the move. We moved into this house only three years ago, and a lot of my stuff is still sitting in storage.

I've probably got two or three full bookshelves' worth of Trek memorabilia packed away. What you're seeing here is just the small fraction that's actually made it into my office so far. One of these days I need to carve out some time, head over to the storage unit, and finally dig the rest of it out. You know... 25th hour of the day and stuff...

Thanks again, Kevin.

And yeah, that comm badge is actually a working device. It's a Bluetooth transceiver. You pair it with your phone, you tap it, and you can actually send and receive phone calls through it, which is pretty cool. Although I never make phone calls. LOL

I set it up when I first bought it years ago, used it for like a week, thought it was so cool. My wife thought it was the nerdiest thing ever. Since then it's just been sitting on the shelf, but I do pull it out once in a while and just wear it as a decoration because it's cool. It's got a magnetic back, so it just kinda hangs on your shirt. I wear it with my Captain Picard hoodie and my Star Trek socks.

Love it. I have an even bigger one in storage. I also have a piece of garbage one that I bought from some online store in China that tried to scam me. This is a whole separate captain's log I got to write. I eventually got my money back, but I wonder how many other people they scammed. That's a whole separate story for another day.
