TechHelp w Ext Cut Prepped

Captain's Log, Supplemental

Spent a couple of hours today getting everything prepped for a TechHelp video, but just didn't find the time to record it. It's been one of those weeks where something unexpected keeps popping up just when I think I've got a clear runway, but I managed to get everything ready to go.

Tomorrow's lesson is on report columns in Access. Pretty straightforward topic on the surface, but I've got some fun stuff planned for the extended cut. Someone asked me a while back if it's possible to have long notes fields spill cleanly into another column. The answer is yes, and I'm going to show how to make that happen in a way that actually looks good.

The real trick isn't just splitting the notes, it's making the customer information follow along in a way that makes sense. I've got a nice little solution where the next column clearly shows that it's a continuation, so there's no confusion about who the data belongs to. It came together really nicely, and I think members are going to like this one.

Plan is to get that TechHelp video out tomorrow with the extended cut, and then I'll be doing another Quick Queries weekend edition as well. Like I said, it's been a bit of a crazy week, so we're rolling with it and keeping things moving.

End log.

Recording that first thing today as soon as I'm done with emails and forum posts. I don't always make the time to read all the new posts in the forums, but I at least try to keep up with the ones that I've commented on.

And I say, first thing today, as it's 2:30 in the afternoon, but hey, it's Saturday. Leave me alone.
