I would like to generate an article code based on characteristics that I have put in different tables. Example for an article code for a ball valve:

the 1st character is for the type of material: steel, cast iron, stainless, etc..
the 2nd character is for the size: 4 for a 4" diameter
the 3rd character is for the control: L for lever, G for gearbox, ...
etc

I guess I could do this with queries and option boxes, but I didnot find it in the lessons up till now.

You could do this with STRING CONCATENATION in a CALCULATED QUERY FIELD.
