Hi Rick, my circumstances were quite different. Since we have a slow internet connection, i had to buy a CD with Windows 8.1 otherwise downloading >3.5GB would be next to impossible. This was probably the cause of my problem because on another computer where i downloaded from the Windows store, this issue never happened.

Your Internet must be REAL slow then. I got spoiled - living in NY I had real fast Internet (100 MB down / 10 MB up). Now in Florida I'm in a more rural area that doesn't have cable (at all!) so I have to settle for DSL. I'm paying for 20 MB down / 2 MB up DSL service, but in reality I get about 10 MB down and 150k up, so it takes FOREVER for my videos to upload to the server, for example. I will say, however, that the speeds aren't that fast, but they're VERY reliable. I can usually just start a download and then go have lunch and it's done when I get back. The exception, of course, is if we're having one of our famous Florida mid-afternoon storms. Then everything goes wonky. :)
