Sarah, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Works are two completely different programs. Now, I haven't used Works in a VERY long time, but I don't believe Works uses the AVERAGE function. I think Works uses AVG as it's averaging function. Works is OK for casual spreadsheet users, but if you really want to build serious spreadsheets, you need to upgrade to Excel.
