You can find out more about the latest version of Visual Basic (which is part of Visual Studio) here on Microsoft's Site HERE. I am going to be upgrading my VB course to Visual Basic 2008 very soon. Yes, it is a standalone programming suite. VBA is something completely different and is part of Microsoft Office.
