Bacon is so good by itself that to put it in any other food is an admission of failure. You're basically saying, "I can't make this other food taste good, so I'll throw in bacon."
Well, I think I got everything fixed. It was a royal pain in the ass, pardon my French. First I had to figure out why pages weren't redirecting* then I had to change some custom settings I have for different things.
My server alarm woke me up at 7am and I just now finished fixing things and it's 11am. So... my whole morning was shot thanks to them. They said they notified me weeks ago. They never notified me. Even so, for something as important as my business website (which is my whole life) they should have CONFIRMED I knew about the changeover. Ugh!
Well, I will say this... after fixing everything, the web site does seem to be running a LOT faster after the upgrade. So... uh... it's good, I guess. I just wish I would have been notified. They should have said "we're switching you over on 12/30/20 at 7am. BE READY" and made sure I acknowledged it. Bad customer service.
Plus, their support tech in the help chat was about as useful as tits on a bull. I could tell he was "Level 1" support. They're usually not much more than glorified receptionists. I KNOW. I used to work in phone tech support back in the early 90s. I used to be the guy TRAINING (go figure) the new reps. All he would bascially say is, "your site is technically working, which is the limit of our liability."
Yeah... it's TECHNICALLY working, but I had a whole ton of customizations that I made before that were working for 10+ years until YOU GUYS BROKE IT.
Ugh. Frustrated, but relieved it's fixed.
Now what else did I have to do today...
* note to future self in case this happens again: change the responseMode from "redirect" to "ExecuteURL" in web.config
I will also say that the whole site does seem a LOT faster than it was before. Whatever they did, they really improved the speed. Still not happy that they upgraded me without warning, but like Alex said: silver lining.
