Hi Richard: I have some Front Page documents on my computer (file ends in .html) which I cannot read any more. This has only happened to some files. The majority of Front Page html documents are still readable. I get this:
q{Ù…D_CƉÞô8”#’ÒŒß ÄP¼ zrÃL-Ͻþºò0voë}—
What has happened and how can I make this readable again?
I really appreciate your help on this. Answer from Richard Rost:
HTML files are basically just TEXT files. If you open them and they look like that, they may have gotten corrupted. Try opening them with a text editor like NOTEPAD and see if they still look like garbage. If so, then they're lost. Restore from your last good backup.
Any number of things can CAUSE this. It could be that they got corrupted during a file transfer, or your hard drive could be on the way out (do a CheckDisk soon). Sometimes people open HTML files in Microsoft Word and then save them in Word format instead of text format.
