Actual I am trying to do a query for which I want the elligable date to look at hire date and a rehire date and choose which is later being the rehire date and calculate the elligable date. Is this possible?

Yes, this is certainly possible. You'll either need to use an aggregate query set to find the MAX date, or you can use the DMAX function.
