I have bought the excel 2007 basic courses, will I gain anything major from purchasing the 2010 excel beginners or its more or less the same ?

Honestly, they're almost exactly the same. There are a few minor differences, but really 2007 and 2010 are very similar. If you purchased your Excel 2007 course before the 2010 version was released, you may qualify for a free upgrade anyhow. Log on to your account and click on the "Check for Free Upgrades" link.
