Here we are, twenty years later. If we are going to follow along with this course, what tools/applications available in 2022 would you recommend we use?
Honestly, if you're NEW to server-based web programming, I think that classic ASP 2.0 (what I used in this course) is the best language to start with. It's very easy, similar to VBA, yet still very powerful. This web site still runs on ASP 2.0. Never had a need to upgrade. Never found any features I wanted that I couldn't build myself.
For the same reason, I recommend learning classic Visual Basic (or VBA) before VB.NET, and classic C before C++ or C#. They're great first languages to start with and aren't as confusing as the steroidal versions that are out now.
Yes, I'm going to be coming out with some new stuff soon, including new Visual Studio lessons... but for the time being if you're new to it, ASP is a great stepping stone.

If I recall, I think Front Page died years ago. I probably have an old CD with it, but I doubt it will run on Windows 10. What are you using to replace Front Page?
