There are huge advertising budgets only when there's no difference between the products. If the products really were different, people would buy the one that's better... Advertising teaches people to be stupid.
You need Access to be installed in order to use an Access database. It's not a stand-alone application. If you want to use or distribute your Access databases to people who don't have Microsoft Access, you'll need to get the Developer Extensions - which are actually FREE now for Access 2007.
