A Turing test is designed to tell the difference between humans and machines. If an AI can "sufficiently" exhibit human intelligence, it can become indistinguishable with a human.
I'm most impressed by ChatGPT's ability to both input and output abstract ideas and thoughts. E.g.:
------------------- Q: How is a ray of sunlight similar to a petal of a flower? AI: One similarity between a ray of sunlight and a petal of a flower is that they are both part of a larger whole that provides them with the energy and sustenance they need to exist. A ray of sunlight is a small part of the sun, which provides it with the energy it needs to travel through space and illuminate the Earth. A petal of a flower is a small part of the flower, which provides it with the nutrients and energy it needs to grow and flourish. Both a ray of sunlight and a petal of a flower are also essential parts of the natural world, and they both play important roles in the ecosystem and the cycles of life. -------------------
If you Google this question, you get nonsensical answers. But not with this AI.
The AI doesn't have to be brilliant. All it needs is exhibit "human-like" activities, such as knowing what the hell I was even talking about in my question.
I asked the AI a tricky math question. It answered in a way that showed that it really understood what was needed to be done. It gave the wrong answer, but even that would be similar to what a human would do, because even Einstein reportedly gave the wrong answer. The correct answer to the question is that it is impossible to achieve 30mph in the second mile because one would have to drive at infinite speed:
------------------- Q: If I drive for fifteen mph for one mile, how fast must I drive in the next mile to average 30 mph for the entire 2-mile trip? AI: To average 30 mph for a 2-mile trip, you would need to drive at a speed of 60 mph for the second mile. This is because in order to average 30 mph for the entire trip, you would need to cover the 2 miles in a total time of 2/30=1/15 hours. Since you have already covered 1 mile in 1/15 hours at a speed of 15 mph, you would need to cover the remaining 1 mile in 1/15 hours at a speed of 60 mph in order to average 30 mph for the entire trip. -------------------

The AI seems to understand multiple languages as well. I've tried it with Chinese and English, and it was able to give answers that made sense. All my colleagues here who are bilingual or multilingual may want to try that too. Give the AI some phrases that use the particular, unique flavor of a language and see how it handles that.
