Happy 4th of July, everyone. I'm a big movie fan, and I usually watch a movie on this day that is fitting to the occasion. And today I watched a documentary film called "June 17th, 1994", which recounts several memorable events on that day that were quite special in our country's history. That was the day the great American sports hero Arnold Palmer played his last round of golf in his career. That was the day of the opening ceremony of World Cup Soccer, which the US hosted for the first time. That was the day New York Rangers had a parade for their Stanley Cup victory. Another NY team, the Knicks, was also on the verge of a title. Oh, that was also the day O.J. Simpson drove a white Bronco SUV while being chased by the police. This was without doubt a most memorable and chaotic day, and some of the most defining moments of Americana, for both good and bad reasons.
"June 17th, 1994" is one of the episodes from the first season of the ESPN TV series "30 For 30". It can be streamed on Google Play ($2.99 if you buy).
