Knowing a great deal is not the same as being smart; intelligence is not information alone but also judgement, the manner in which information is coordinated and used.
So now that we're up and running on the new, faster server, can anyone tell a difference? Is the website faster for you?

When it first happened I was having some delays and the one post I approved took a long time, but it seems faster now for most stuff. Must have been unpacking and settling in.
I don't like this new server. The old one gave me time to go get my coffee before the page refreshed. Now I have to keep working as it refreshes AMAZINGLY

The old site was fast if I were the only one signed in.
Yeah I could definitely tell the difference between using the site at 3pm and 3am.

Pages are loading much more quickly. For me, the longest wait was the My Courses page. It seemed to take 10-15 seconds to load. Now it's maybe one second, if that.

Works awesome on the new server, much faster.
This is a major upgrade for your business.
Keep up the good work, and keep the videos coming.

Yeah, much faster page loads. Great work.
Is the new server in a different time zone than the old one? Seems to be a 3 hour difference to my local time.

The "My Courses" page was, and still is, the slowest. I assume the delay is not from the server, but from the query that builds the list. Having said that, my list includes almost the entire Access courses catalogue. LOL.

For the most part the new server is faster. The My Courses page load has a small delay but not like before. I could go to Starducks, threaten the barista (myself) and come back (basically walk to the kitchen and return to the office) and if lucky it had loaded. Again it is faster..

Thew new server makes the entire experience on your website more enjoyable (as if that were even possible).
Kevin: I didn't even notice the time zone difference. The server is physically located in California (PST) whereas I'm in Florida (EST) which is a 3 hour difference. Before I was on a shared server, so I had to deal with their server time. Now since I guess it's my own server they set the system clock to EST. Cool. That means I do have some reprogramming to do... I had TechHelp videos scheduled to go out at 6am PST before which is 9am EST.
Sami: Didn't realize it was that slow since I never use it. LOL. That's something I need to focus more on, is getting feedback on the user's experience. I don't USE a lot of the features of the site.
Everyone else: thank you so much for the valuable feedback! I definitely think the upgrade is worth the cost.
For those of you who are curious, I had a shared hosting plan before which was $20 per month and I feel was MORE than worth it for a small website, startup business, even a hobby site. However, over the past couple years we've grown a lot and even I was getting frustrated with the speed of this site - which is one of the reasons I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked to answering questions IN MY OWN FORUMS! I'd sit down to start answering questions... answer one... click submit............... wait 30 seconds............................. so yeah... I knew it was time to upgrade.
So... I've upgraded us to a dedicated server which is $300 per month. It's a significant cost increase, but so far I feel like it's well worth it. I love WinHost. They made the switchover a painless process. I did have some work to do on my office side because I had to relink my Access databases to the new SQL Server, but that only took me about half an hour or so. Aside from that, I'm eager to play with the new site. Now that it's FAST and I can do what I want with it, I'm eager to build some new features.
I just played around with the My Courses listing, and it loaded up pretty fast for me. There's an option on the top of the page that says "Full Course Listing." If you click on that, it gives you a hierarchical menu system where you can click "Access," then "Developer," then "D1-10," etc. Do you guys think that would be a better menu than just showing ALL of someone's classes in one list to start? I could make that the default.

Now the My Courses page is loading a lot more quickly, it's not really an issue for me. Either switch to the hierarchical system or leave as is, I'm happy either way :o)

Because of the large number of courses and seminars I have, I would definitely prefer it to load with the hierarchical structure first.

I just tried the hierarchical listing, it's instantaneous and it's much easier to get to what I'm looking for

Omg - this is WAY faster! Really responsive esp when listing my courses. Nice one 😀👍
