I know that you wouldn't steer me wrong but my antivirus tells me that there is malware or spyware on this site.  Have you had any indication of this?  Is it safe to download from the site?  Thanks

I've been using VLC for MANY, MANY YEARS. I have it on all four of my PCs, my laptop, my wife's laptop. I've directed HUNDREDS of customers there. I've never had ANY indication that there was ANY problem with their software.

Make sure you're downloading from the ORIGINAL VLC web site. There are some impostors out there trying to "sell" products that look like VLC.  

Or, download VLC from DOWNLOAD.COM. That site is run by CNET and they guarantee that all of their files are virus/malware free.
