I just downloaded the latest VLC (2.0.2) and when I open a WMV in Access 2010 Beginner 1 I get a message that says something about needing MSS2 which is not available. Do these files play in your version?

Yes, but I have the MSS2 codec on my machine. See, this is why I hate WMV and will never use another Microsoft-proprietary video format again.
You can manually download the CODEC package the contains MSS2 and it will then play on your system with any player. Details are on THIS page.
