National boundaries are not evident when we view the Earth from space. Fanatical ethnic or religious or national chauvinisms are a little difficult to maintain when we see our planet as a fragile blue crescent...
Typhoons are commonplace in Japan, and below is a Japanese comic trip about a "pet typhoon," which is hatched from a magic egg (given to a boy who wants a pet), grows big, grows attached to its owner, and sacrifices itself to save its owner by crashing into the much bigger typhoon that is heading inland. I first saw this in the 1970s, I recall. Note: the reading order is right to left, top to bottom (refer to the page numbers).

The original was in Japanese, later translated into many languages. Some of the English translation above is quite awkward, but it adds to the cuteness of the whole thing.
