Over the past couple of years, I've been focused on recording as many TechHelp videos as possible for a couple of key reasons. First, they address issues and questions that often come up but aren't always covered in my full courses. Even when I've covered a topic before, sometimes it needs to be presented in a new way to really make sense for a specific situation. This ties into my favorite analogy: building with Legos. Teaching is like putting the same Legos together in different ways to create something new.
Second, TechHelp videos are fantastic for bringing in new students. Many people find my free videos on YouTube, and that's a great way to introduce them to the rest of my courses and resources. They're an invaluable tool for building my business.
However, these videos are time-consuming to create. Even a 10-minute video can take me three to four hours to put together - preparing the content, recording, editing, and finally posting. While I've streamlined parts of the process with automation, it's still a big commitment. Trying to produce one of these videos every day leaves little time for other important tasks. Even when I string together a series (like the Employee Training series) to produce those 11 videos took me 3 or 4 solid days.
Adding to that, customer service alone takes at least an hour daily, which doesn't leave me with much time to work on other projects. I've been itching to focus on new Access Developer lessons, seminars, and other topics like Word, Excel, and SQL Server.
Because of this, I'm considering scaling back from producing five TechHelp videos a week to two or three, still with one extended cut for the members. I'd fill the other slots with the Fast Tips videos - those quick one- or two-minute tips I used to do. These are much quicker to prepare and still provide valuable insights for my audience. Plus, they might do better on other platforms like TikTok or YouTube Shorts.
At this point, this is just an idea I'm exploring, and I'd love to hear your thoughts. You're the ones watching these videos, so let me know what you think about the possibility of mixing in more Fast Tips videos and scaling back on the TechHelp videos. I value your input and want to make sure I'm delivering content that's helpful and engaging for you.
Let me know in the comments or send me a message with your feedback!

Unfortunately, we only have one of you. having watched just about everything you have done; I am eager to see your next seminar or developer lesson (hopefully SQL server) lol.
I believe that quick tips videos are a perfect compromise.

I am looking forward to more Excel classes (covering Power Pivot, Power Query and, of course, VBA).
Eager to keep learning though whatever direction you decide to move in.

I love the Tech Help videos! All of them! They are invaluable to me! Unlike a lot of your members, I am not a developer, I just like taking an idea that I believe will help me perform better at my job, creating it with the aid of your videos, and testing it out! The transfer spreadsheet tech help videos just a few weeks ago have saved me about thirty minutes per day getting data into my database. I have taken many of your courses and they are great, I just don't have time to make it a daily or weekly thing like I can with the tech help videos. But, I know I am not necessarily your target audience, so I will check in everyday regardless because the information you provide and how you communicate it, is second to none and it is not even close sir!!! You're the best! Keep doing what you do however you what to do it and I will keep tuning in!
Interesting. I didn't think of that. I have somewhat of a format with TechHelp... with the Fast Tips I was just going to get right into it and keep it short - to 2 minutes (since max on YouTube for shorts is 3). Not a lot of time for "Welcome to... blah blah blah" stuff. But yeah, that is a good point.

What is the max in TickTock? I don't use it. That could be a good place for the Fast Tips.

Just a quick voice from a MyOLP member that has completed all your courses, I have to question the value of this level of membership when little else, if anything, is being added other than TechHelp videos. I can get those with my Gold membership.
That is true. That's one of the reasons why I am considering making fewer TechHelp videos so I can focus more on other projects - like Developer lessons.
Sami tiktok upped their max to 30 minutes, but YouTube shorts are still just 3 minutes.

I'm confused, according to one post they were merged 19 months ago,
I don't see a directory for Fast Tips, so I'm guessing they were merged?
I often go one direction and then in reverse, only to reverse again.
My old mentor called it twitching, I preferred to call it contemplative reassessment.
Yeah, they were merged. I'll probably still keep them together, just call them "Fast Tips TechHelp Videos" or something. My reason for the change is more about style than naming. I need more time in my day, so I'm going to start producing shorter "tip-style" videos instead of the longer Q&A walkthru videos that TechHelps are.
Just did one... a "TechHelp Fast Tips video..." and the rest is the same except just a shorter video (under 3 min except for the outtro). I've got software to chop that off to make shorts, so I think I'll just keep doing that.

Well, keep them TechHelp, which is what they are.
I vote for quickie and longie sub-categories.

I'm with Alex. (Maybe these are TechHelp shorts?) I am good with whatever adjustments you need to make to maintain the teaching direction that you want. I enjoy all of your material.

I'm fine with 3 videos a week, churning 5 out a week is time consuming. I get it you got a life and want to do other things at times. 3 minutes is a lot shorter than 10 but if you cut the intro down to next to nothing we get more information. Between the videos and the classes I've gone from uncomfortable with Access noob to just a noob.
