WalkThru - Manual Download

You can watch all of your courses online, right in your Web browser, by using our Online Theater, which is what we recommend. However, if you wish to take your lessons on the road, or watch them on a plane, and you don't have access to the Internet, then you can either download the videos in a ZIP file, or you can download the MP4 video files themselves, one at a time. The ZIP file is easier because it's just one file, but there are a few more steps involved to unZIP the file.

Optional reading: What is a ZIP file?

Option 1: Download a ZIP File (Recommended)

You can download your courses directly from our web site in the form of a ZIP file. The videos for each lesson are compressed (to reduce download time) into a single archive file called a ZIP file. Every version of Windows from Windows XP and after has the ability to open ZIP files. We'll explain how below. It seems like there are a lot of steps, but it's really quite simple once you get the hang of it.

STEP 1: Logon to your account. Click here for instructions.

STEP 2: After you are logged on, click on the My Courses link.

STEP 3: A list of all of your courses will appear. Take note of the password that is shown. You will need this to unlock the course ZIP file. Hint: if you double-click on the password and then press CTRL-C on your keyboard that will copy the password to your clipboard. You can then paste it later without having to retype it when prompted.

STEP 4: Right-click on the link that says Download. That means to click on the link with your RIGHT mouse button.

STEP 5: What you see next may be slightly different, depending on what Web browser you're using. Internet Explorer users will want to click on Save Target As... whereas Firefox and Chrome users will want to select Save Link As... It's the same thing. You're just telling your browser to download the file and save it on your computer.

STEP 6: Next we need to tell our web browser WHERE to put the ZIP file. I recommend saving it on your Windows Desktop so it's easier to find and work with. So when the Save As window comes up, click on the Desktop icon, then click on Save.

STEP 7: Next, find the downloaded ZIP file on your desktop and RIGHT-click on it again. Select Extract All... from the menu that appears.

STEP 8: Windows will extract the files from the ZIP file into a folder on your desktop with the same name as the ZIP file. This is fine. Click the Extract button.

STEP 9: You will now be asked for that password that we showed you earlier in Step 5. Type it now, or if you copied it to your clipboard, just click on the Password box and press CTRL-V on your keyboard to paste it in. Your window should now look like mine does below. Click OK.

STEP 10: You will now find a folder on your desktop containing all of the videos for this course. Just double-click on one to open it up. You will want to watch them in numerical order, starting with lesson ZERO (0), if one exists.

That's it. See, that wasn't so hard now, was it? Now, If you want to save space, you can delete the ZIP file you downloaded and just keep the videos in a folder. You can always come back and download them again if you need to.

Option 2: Download Just the Video Files

If you really don't want to deal with ZIP files, then you can manually download just the individual video files themselves. It will take a bit longer, but the option is available for you.

STEP 1: Log on to your account and go to the Online Theater.

STEP 2: In the Settings section (bottom-left corner) change Download Mode to YES.

STEP 3: Select the video you wish to download. Notice now that instead of playing a video, you will see a "click here to download" link in the upper-right pane.

Now continue with STEP 4 above to download the individual video file. You will NOT need any additional passwords to download the videos in this manner. When you are finished downloading a video (MP4 file) you can just double-click on it to play it.
