Logging User Activity - Audit Trail By Richard Rost 4 years ago Q: Dear Richard, I'm trying to create an 'audit' process to show changes that are made to data in tables, rather than forms. I have noticed you have an 'Access Advanced 6, data macros' course. I need to be able to record who made the changes (the user), the date and various different fields which have been altered. Will this course allow me to do this? At some point, the database will need better security, but for now, it would be useful to record changes to made to data in a table. Kind regards, Sue. A: Hi Sue. Yes you can learn how to do that with a data macro in Access Advanced 6. I also cover how to do it with VBA in my Security Seminar and my SQL Seminar Part 2. If you really want to lock down your database you need the Security Seminar otherwise users can just open up the log table and make changes themselves, but if everyone is honest then the log will at least show you what was changed and who changed it.
