Transcript Welcome to Word 102 using Microsoft Word brought to you by 599CD.com. I am your instructor Richard Rost.

In today's class, we are going to talk about document formatting. We will learn how to do some paragraph formatting, line spacing, page numbers, margins, headers, and footers, as well as a lot of other document formatting features.

We are going to see some of Word's language tools, including more with the spell check and grammar check tools. We will also see how the Thesaurus works.

We will also spend some time working with graphics today. We are going to teach you how to insert clip art, images, WordArt, and AutoShapes. We will show you the drawing toolbar and more.

Prerequisites: We strongly recommend you take Word 101 before taking this course. In Word 101, we cover the basics and we build upon that knowledge in this class. It is also strongly recommended that you have taken our Windows 101 class, as well as either our Windows 102 or Windows 110 classes if you are using Windows 98 or Windows XP, respectively.

In this class, we will be using Microsoft Word XP 2002 and Windows XP. If you have Word 97, Word 2000, or even Word 95, you should be able to follow along with most of the examples in class. Some of the features are slightly different in older versions, but most of the changes are simply cosmetic, and we will try to point them out where possible.

Also, it does not matter what version of Windows you have. You should be able to follow along whether you are using Windows 98, 95, 2000, or XP.

Our style of learning is pretty easy. We recommend that you watch the lessons completely through one time, and then watch the lessons again following along with the examples. Some people like to watch the entire course first, and then go through the course again following along with the examples. Other times, people like to watch one lesson, and then go through that lesson again. However you like to learn is up to you.

We recommend you watch it once through to get a feel for what I am trying to do, and then go through it again following along on your computer. Whichever style you choose, follow along and do the examples. Working through these examples on your own will definitely help you to learn the material.

Summary Today's video from Word Learning Zone focuses on the essentials of document formatting in Microsoft Word. In this lesson, I cover a range of formatting techniques such as working with paragraphs, adjusting line spacing, adding page numbers, managing document margins, and setting up headers and footers. I also introduce several other important formatting features that are helpful for making your documents look professional.

We'll explore Word's language features in more detail, including advanced options for spell check and grammar check. I will also show you how to use the Thesaurus for finding synonyms and improving your writing.

A significant part of today's class is dedicated to inserting and working with graphics. I explain how to insert clip art, images, WordArt, and AutoShapes to enhance the visual appeal of your documents. You will learn how to use the drawing toolbar and various related tools to add creative elements to your work.

Before taking this course, I strongly suggest completing Word 101 since this session builds on those foundational concepts. Additionally, Windows 101 is recommended for all students, and if you're using Windows 98 or Windows XP, consider also taking Windows 102 or Windows 110, respectively, for the best experience.

The class uses Microsoft Word XP 2002 and Windows XP for demonstrations. However, those using earlier versions of Word like 95, 97, or 2000 should be able to follow most of the examples without difficulty, as most differences are only cosmetic. I'll highlight any significant variations along the way. The instructions are designed to be compatible with different Windows versions, including Windows 95, 98, 2000, and XP.

For the best results, I recommend watching all the lessons once to get an overview of the content. After your initial viewing, go through each lesson again while working through the exercises on your own computer. Some people prefer to complete the whole course before practicing, while others like to go lesson by lesson. Choose the approach that works best for you, but be sure to try the examples yourself, as hands-on practice is the most effective way to fully learn these skills.

You can find a complete video tutorial with step-by-step instructions on everything discussed here on my website at the link below. Live long and prosper, my friends.
