Troubleshooting Problems
By Richard Rost   Richard Rost on LinkedIn Email Richard Rost

If you're having problems getting your video tutorials to play, contact customer service or try some of the tips below. I am going to do the best that I can to help get you up and running. I need as much information as you can possibly give me so that I can determine what the problem might be. Please tell me:

  • Exactly what kind of problem you're having
  • HOW are you trying to watch the videos? My Online Theater, a downloaded file?
  • What steps you're taking to get to this problem (specifically)
  • Are you receiving any error messages (if so, what are they, EXACTLY... word for word?)
  • What version of Windows are you using? (Windows 7, 8, 10, etc.)
  • What Web Browser are you using (IE, Firefox, Chrome) and what VERSION is it?
  • Have you tried REBOOTING your computer? This fixes a lot of problems.
  • Try LOGGING OUT, closing ALL instances of your browser, and then logging back on.
  • If this is an issue with DOWNLOADED videos, see if you able to watch any of my videos online in the Theater.
  • Are you able to watch videos on YouTube?
  • Have you read the WALKTHRU TUTORIALS to make sure you're doing things right?
  • Have you tried UPDATING WINDOWS?
  • Have you tried installing a NEW VIDEO PLAYER program?

Don't take this the wrong way, but I have over 30,000 customers who actively watch my videos - both online and with the downloadable software. 99.9% of the time when someone complains about not getting video or sound, the problem is on their computer. It's either an old video player, outdated Windows files, missing CODECs, or some other issue.

I know that my videos are good, and that they work on every version of Windows from XP up to Windows 10. The most common cause of problems is that someone has installed conflicting software on their PC that is causing the Media Player to not run correctly. So please check and make sure you have rebooted your PC, and that you have the latest version of Windows Media Player or a comparable video player like VLC installed.

If you still require assistance after checking all of these things, please CONTACT ME with as much of the above information as possible.
