Bye Bye Laptop
By Richard Rost   Richard Rost on Twitter Richard Rost on LinkedIn Email Richard Rost   4 months ago

Let this be a lesson...

Don't keep drinks near your keyboard, especially if your keyboard is a laptop and your primary work machine.

I keep my coffee in a Yeti with a lid that slides closed. Do you think it was closed? No.

My puppy comes to see me. Gets excited and knocks over my Yeti, which I normally keep at least a foot away from my laptop, but in this instance I set it down right next to it.

Lid open.

To play with the dog for a quick second.

So I apologize if my emails and posts for the next couple of days are short and concise. I took it all apart and cleaned it, but it's still not right.

New laptop gets here Thursday.

My new laptop is finally configured and set up. Fortunately it came in 2 days early, but it usually takes me a day or two to get it set up EXACTLY the way I like it. In any case, I see there are over 160 messages in the Forums I haven't read yet. I was waiting until I could actually type. I hate voice dictation. I always at least READ over all of the Forum posts, even if I don't chime in. My sincere thanks to Alex, Adam, Scott, and the rest of my Developer students (Access Veterans) who help out answering questions in the Forums. You take a huge load off my hands!

No problem, although I think it would've been interesting to see some of the responses with no punctuation, text format, line breaks, or with the horrible spell check of voice dictation. Might have gotten some funny run-on sentences LOL.

Murphys Law right, the one time you put it close to your PC.

Maybe it just needs a good air dry ;).

I think all laptops and notebooks should come like watches -- Good to 3m submerged for at least 30 min.

Sorry about that!  That sucks especially since it was your recording machine.
