Intro In lesson 102, you will learn how to create and edit web pages online using Microsoft FrontPage, work with page copies to prevent visitors from seeing changes in progress, and use various web components like hit counters, hover buttons, scrolling marquees, and include page components. We will also cover advanced column management, basic graphic editing, creating store maps, and using bookmarks for internal links within your site. Prerequisites for this lesson include prior experience with FrontPage 101, Microsoft Word 101, Windows 101, and either Windows 102 or 110.
Transcript Welcome to Microsoft FrontPage 102 using FrontPage brought to you by 599cd.com. I am your instructor Richard Rost.

Let's talk about the objectives for today's class. First, we will talk about developing your web online, creating and editing your pages on the internet as opposed to on your local C drive. We will show you how to work with copies of pages so visitors to your site do not see strange things happening as you are editing your pages.

We will learn about different web components, hit counters, hover buttons, scrolling marquees, and an e-component called the include page component. We will go over some advanced column management techniques. We will learn a little bit of graphic editing. We will show you how to create a map to your store. And we will show you how to use bookmarks to create hyperlinks within pages.

Prerequisites: This class follows FrontPage 101. We strongly recommend that you take FrontPage 101 first before taking this class. We will be working with the same website we started designing in FrontPage 101 in today's class. It is also recommended that you have taken our Word 101 class as well as our Windows 101 and either Windows 102 or 110 classes. You can find out more information on these classes on our website.

We will be using Microsoft FrontPage XP 2002 in class as well as Windows XP. Now, if you are a FrontPage 2000 user you should be able to follow along with all of today's lessons as well as if you are using FrontPage 2003. If you are still using FrontPage 98, we strongly recommend you upgrade to at least FrontPage XP.

It does not matter much which version of Windows you are using. Whether you have Windows 2000 or Windows 98, it does not matter. We recommend you watch completely through each lesson and then watch it again following along with the examples.

More information about this class can be found on our student webpage which is at 599cd.com/FrontPage/102.

Summary Today's video from the FrontPage Learning Zone will cover the objectives for Microsoft FrontPage 102. The main focus is going to be on developing your website directly online, meaning you will learn how to create and edit your pages on the internet rather than on your local hard drive. I will show you the importance of working with copies of your web pages so that the visitors to your site do not experience any unexpected changes while you are making edits behind the scenes.

We will take a look at several different web components available in FrontPage. This includes adding hit counters to track page visitors, using hover buttons for interactive navigation, creating scrolling marquees for moving text, and introducing the include page component, which lets you insert content from one page into another. We will also explore some advanced options for managing columns, giving you more control over your page layout. There will be a section devoted to basic graphic editing, where I will teach you how to create a custom map for your store. On top of that, you will learn how to use bookmarks and hyperlinks within your pages to enhance navigation.

Before taking this class, you should have completed FrontPage 101, since we will continue working with the same website set up in that course. It is also helpful to have taken Word 101 and at least Windows 101 and either Windows 102 or 110. Additional details about these prerequisites can be found on our website.

Throughout the class, I will be using Microsoft FrontPage XP 2002 on a Windows XP system. However, if you use FrontPage 2000 or 2003, you will still be able to follow the lessons. For those still working with FrontPage 98, I recommend upgrading to at least FrontPage XP to take full advantage of these features. The version of Windows you use makes very little difference—Windows 2000, Windows 98, or Windows XP will all work fine.

I always recommend that you first watch each lesson from start to finish. Then, go back and watch it again while working along with the examples to reinforce what you have learned.

If you need more information about this class, you can find everything you need on the student webpage at the link below. For a complete, step-by-step video tutorial covering all of these topics, be sure to visit my website. Live long and prosper, my friends.
