IntroIn lesson 201 you will learn how to use built-in animation schemes and custom animations in Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, including how to create animation paths to move objects around the slide. We will also cover how to add action buttons to make your presentation interactive, work with hyperlinks to navigate slides or open web pages, and include narration so you can add audio to your slides. This lesson builds on the skills taught in the previous PowerPoint courses and focuses on features unique to PowerPoint 2003.TranscriptWelcome to PowerPoint 201, brought to you by PowerPointLearningZone.com. I am your instructor, Richard Rost.In this lesson, we are going to cover animation, both the built-in animation schemes that are available from PowerPoint and custom animations. We will learn how to move objects around on the screen and actually create things called animation paths, where you can take an object and move it wherever you want on the screen. We will also cover action buttons, which make your presentation more user-friendly and interactive by giving users buttons to click on to advance, go back, jump to a specific slide, or even open a web page. We will talk about hyperlinks that you can use to allow people to jump to text, click on a word, visit a web page, or jump to a different slide. Finally, we will talk about narration and slides, so you can include your audio in your presentation, allowing you to give your presentation without having to be there. This class follows Microsoft PowerPoint 104. I strongly recommend you take 101 through 104 before taking this class. I will be using Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 in this class. Unlike my previous PowerPoint classes, a lot of the material in this class is specific to PowerPoint 2003. The custom animations, for example, are brand new in 2003. If you have XP or 2000, a lot of it will be different. You should be able to figure it out after watching this, but some of the features in custom animations have really changed a lot. If you are not using PowerPoint 2003 yet, I strongly recommend that you upgrade to it. As always, I recommend you watch each lesson completely through once and then follow along again with my examples. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the student forums. If you are watching this class online or in my Amicron video player, you should see the student forums appear to the right of the video. If not, you can find the student forums by visiting the website and clicking on the link to the forums. QuizQ1. What is the primary topic covered in this PowerPoint 201 lesson?A. SummaryToday's video from PowerPoint Learning Zone focuses on animation and interactivity in Microsoft PowerPoint. In this lesson, I explain the different ways you can animate objects on your slides. We will look at the built-in animation schemes that PowerPoint provides, as well as explore how to create your own custom animations. One of the exciting features we will explore is animation paths, which allow you to move objects dynamically across the screen in any direction you choose. In addition, we will discuss the use of action buttons. These buttons can make your presentations much more interactive by letting users advance to the next slide, go back to a previous slide, jump to a specific location in the presentation, or even open up a webpage directly from your PowerPoint show. I will also show you how to add hyperlinks to your presentations. With these, users can quickly navigate to different slides, visit web pages, or interact with specific pieces of text. Another important topic we will cover is how to add narration to your slides. By including your voice with the presentation, you can create a self-running PowerPoint show that can be played without you being present to give the talk in person. This course is a continuation of the PowerPoint series, and I strongly suggest completing PowerPoint 101 through 104 before starting with this class, as these lessons build upon what has already been covered. For this lesson, I am using Microsoft PowerPoint 2003. Many of the features I'll be covering, especially custom animations, are new in this version of PowerPoint. If you are working with an older version, such as PowerPoint XP or 2000, you may find that some of the features are different or not available. The updated custom animation tools are a significant change in PowerPoint 2003, so I highly recommend upgrading if you have not already done so. To get the most out of this class, I find it helpful to watch each lesson all the way through first, then go back and follow along with your own copy of PowerPoint using the same examples. If any questions come up as you are working through the material, you are always welcome to post in the student forums. If you are viewing this lesson online or through the Amicron video player, you should see the forums appear next to the video. If not, you can always visit the website and find the forums there. You can find a complete video tutorial with step-by-step instructions on everything discussed here on my website at the link below. Live long and prosper, my friends.
