Student Poll Results
By Richard Rost   Richard Rost on LinkedIn Email Richard Rost   12 years ago

Well, it hasn't yet been 24 hours since I opened up the Student Poll for the next Microsoft Access Seminar, but I've already received over 500 votes. The results are already pretty clear. The overwhelming majority of you are interested in a seminar on SEARCHING AND SORTING in Access. So, that will be the next seminar. I'll start it right after I finish Access Beginner Level 5.

Surprisingly, the #2 and #3 results were Migrating an Access Database to Sharepoint, and Using SQL Server with Access. I didn't see that coming. We'll have another poll after I finish the Searching/Sorting seminar and see if everyone is still interested in that. For the rest of you, DON'T FRET. There were still a TON of votes for the other seminars, so I know that a lot of you are interested in just about ALL of them... my goal is to finish ALL of the seminars on the list by summer... mostly because I need the money. LOL. Just kidding.

Some of you mentioned topics that weren't on the Poll. The most popular item was Access VBA. I was thinking of NOT making a separate seminar for VBA and just working the VBA lessons into the "Advanced" series of regular Access classes. However, after seeing how many of you missed it, I may have to re-evaluate that decision. Other popular requests were Access "Dashboards" and doing more with charts and graphs. Good ideas.

For the future, I plan to release a few new "regular" classes, followed by a seminar, followed by a few more "regular" classes. This should keep both the advanced students AND new students having something to do. Now as soon as I can perfect human cloning and can make a few more of me, I'll work on other subjects too. :)

Now, I have a TON of ideas on my outline for the Search/Sort seminar. I might even break it up into two parts... Part 1 will cover all of the different things you can do WITHOUT programming or SQL. Part 2 will have the more advanced topics in it.

I want to know what YOU want to see covered in this tutorial. What things do you want me do show you? Give me some ideas, examples, problems or challenges YOU'RE having with your database. Post your ideas here, or email them to me.
