Well, I am happy to report that it's only taken 23 years of hard work, but I'm finally starting to see my website show up in Google search rankings. Not just for videos, but in the actual text listings if you search for anything Microsoft Access related.
It's taken me a long time, obviously, but I've just been cranking out the videos the last couple of years, and Google seems to be recognizing it. So that makes me happy.
And of course, you should all know that my goal in life is to show up as one of the first - if not the first - video result for anything Microsoft Access related. So, if you do a Google search for anything and one of my videos doesn't show up, let me know exactly what the search was, and I'll make a video for it.
We all have dreams in life. This is one of mine. :)
What is hard though is the generic terms like if I search for MS Access Query then I don't show up on the first page. Although I do show up for Microsoft Access Query. Frustrating. However if you look for very specific terms like Microsoft Access DLookup then I'm right there with 2 of the 3 videos, and #7 in text placement.
The quest for Access Google Domination continues...
I need to commend you. You are one of those guys who promote that they will put out videos each day or week with good content, but you are the ONLY one that I watch that fulfills that promise plus a lot more. Your videos are filled with knowledge, humor, and not only the TechHelp videos but lessons, seminars, and templates to boot. Bravo Richard, bravo.
Thanks, Jerry. I do my best. I try to stay like a week ahead with scheduling them, but then I'll have two or three days where I get distracted by other projects or other life stuff that gets in the way. Like today, I still have to put together a video for tomorrow. I'm thinking of doing Quick Queries every Friday because I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from them, and honestly, they're quite easy to produce. It's just me answering questions off the top of my head for half an hour, so I think that's going to be my new Friday thing.
But yeah, I love what I do, and I love making videos and teaching people. I look forward to doing it every day. I just wish I had more time because there are a lot of other topics that I want to get back into too, like Word, Excel, SQL Server, etc. There are not enough hours in the day, and that's one way that you can tell that you really love what you do because I'll start working in the morning and then out of nowhere it's already 6 PM, and I'll be like, "where did the day go?" It's a passion. I love what I do.
