Document Check Out
Daniel Golden

I have a single document that when placed on a network folder does not allow me the option to check it out so that I can edit VBA elements. I have three other documents in the same folder which do allow for checking them out. The trouble document in this folder does not give any trouble when it is in a local folder. Any thoughts on why this happens, and a remedy?

When you say check out, is it in SharePoint?

Not that I am aware of. The other documents work just fine in the network location.

What do you mean by "check it out"?

When I open the document in Word and then click the Visual Basic button it opens the VBA editor screen but everything is protected. When the file is not in a shared folder, there is a button that comes up called "Check Out" that enables the VBA editor to be used. When the file is in a shared folder (not SharePoint) that "Check Out" button option does not come up.

Can you share a screenshot of that message?

When the document is not in a network folder, the Editing Macros bar comes up when I click on Visual Basic. I can then check the document out and work on it in Visual Basic. If the document is in a network folder, The Editing Macros bars does not come up at all. I can still open the Visual Basic window but that's when I get the "Project Locked" Message Box.
