Once upon a time, people identified the god Neptune as the source of storms at sea. Today we call these storms hurricanes. The only people who still call hurricanes acts of god are the people who write insurance forms.
I am sorry for beeing cryptic before. Hopefully, this will do better:
I would like to build a query by merging/joining the following two tables:
1. article properties like name, article number, producer and similar data that do not change.
2. incoming article data with article name and number again (referencing table 1) but also delivery date, delivered amount, batch and so on.
As long as I just give the option of entering the article name, my query works fine (select one article and the query dataset fills in all the properties from table 1),
BUT some articles can be found more easily via the name while others are found better by the article number. Therefore, I want to give the user the option to enter the better fitting value and fill in the other based on the property table 1.
Best regards and again thanks a lot

Please show a screenshot of the two tables in design view.
Also show the current query you mentioned also in design view.
Are your users working from a Form or are they going directly to the query? if there is a Form, please show that as well.
What you want to do is easy when done in a form.

I guess, I would need to join in order to be able to add pictures here.
Maybe, if the solution is that simple in a form, it would be possible to give me a hint, which youtube videos I should watch helping me find the solution?
Thank you once again,
Eric
