Mobile Hotspot

Hi Richard, and friends

I am shopping for a Mobile hotspot that is unlocked. I have watched several videos on YouTube, and it seems that NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 is the best option out there but at $550 it is very pricy.

Anyone out there has either a recommendation for something else or vouch for NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 as good value?

Thank you

Hey Sami, If you get the refirb and the extended warranty a little less pain in the pocket book plus netgear is always good at testing before repackaging.  I use netgear exclusively and trust them.  Good Luck!

Thank you Dave Clark

I will see if I can find one. Most of the ones on Ebay are At&T. I am hoping to find an unlocked one.

Hi Dave

Do you know if the PRO is worth the additional $150?

I have a GL-X3000 that I have been very happy with.

Thanks Matt The price is similar, but the Netgear seems to be much smaller, it will fit in my laptop bag.

$341.91, today on their website, through my link.  I'm not promoting it but I know it costs a lot more on Amazon.  You are right that it is bigger.

I've always just used my phone.

I am using my phone every day as a hotspot when I am away from here. It is definitely slower than what i have seen tested on YouTube.

Sami, I should have mentioned that the GL-iNet devices are not hotspots but travel routers.  They allow VPN to be installed on the router, which I wanted.  This also means they are less plug and play than the mobile hotspots.  That would be a consideration for what fits your needs.

I used to use my phone also.  I turned to the travel routers as my work travel picked up a couple of years ago, giving me access to free but unsecured hotel and jobsite WIFI.  I still use my phone on occasion as my back-up option and it works pretty well, too.
