Camaraderie in the Forums

A week or so ago I posted a new conversation in this forum because I was in a Cascading Combo Box black hole. I wasn’t expecting much as my experience with forum assistance is lukewarm. Much to my surprise however, between Richard Rost and Dr. Shamma my problem was solved. So, if this is the comraderie is this forum them I’m all in and hopefully at some point I can return the favor - thank you

These forums are the best group I've seen on the internet. Just people helping each other, no toxicity from "elitists" or anything like that, and questions rarely go un-answered.

I give full credit to my moderators. They do a fantastic job. I wish I had more time to spend in the forums answering questions, but I spend most of my time with either customer service emails, or recording my videos. But my moderators are a fantastic group, and I couldn't do this without them.

Regarding my forums, I just made this comment on another thread, and I think it's worth copying here since you mentioned that your experience with other forums is lukewarm (mine too):

That's one of the reasons I don't open my forums up to everybody. I want this to be a discussion with people who have learned how to use Access from me and do it my way. I look at forums online, and you get all these other people with all these different ideas and ways of doing things. Experts think they know what they're doing, answering questions, and I'm like, no dude, that's not how that works. That's why this is a closed ecosystem.

I have literally posted comments to help answer other people's questions online and have gotten other so-called experts telling me "that's not how you do it." And I'm like, dude, I've been teaching it that way probably since before you were born. And I can guarantee you 100% it works. Here's a video...

Sometimes you just get people waving their egos around online. And that's definitely not the case here. Personally, I love learning new ways of doing things and learning things from my students and finding different things I might not have known. And I'm the first person to say, "Wow, that's cool. I didn't know that." I've said that in some of my QQ videos: "you just taught me something! Thanks!"

There's definitely no egos here. I want this to be a safe learning space for people of all levels.

Michael do you mind if I move this thread to my Testimonials page?
