VB NET vs VBA for Office
John Swope

Could you clarify the relationship between Access, Excel, Visual Basic for Applications, and Visual Basic .NET?

My understanding is that, for Office versions through 2010, you need to use VBA, which is not the same language as the current VB.NET - is that correct?

Reply from Richard Rost:

Office uses VBA. It always has, and it probably will for some time to come since EVERYONE has macros and other code written specifically for Office VBA.

VB.NET is a separate platform, part of the Visual Studio suite, designed for building separate, stand-alone applications.
