I never liked that "Security" wore the same "colors" as Engineering. (...and don't get me started on ST:TNG switching it around) I always thought that Security should have their own color so everyone knew/reacted to them instantly. I wish that Roddenberry had gone with the idea of "Marines" on star ships (especially those out exploring the unknown.) But I guess then we wouldn't have had some of the episodes that we had (Kirk is kidnapped, Kirk and Spock are kidnapped, Enterprise is taken over by terrorists, etc.). LOL!!!
They changed command to red because Stewart didn't test very well in yellow.

In my Star Trek database, I track "rituals." "Red shirt death" is a ritual. Others: shirtless Kirk, "he's dead, Jim," Vulcan nerve pinch, and so on. When I get to TNG I'll have to add new ones like poker.
