Today I just want to say thank you to all the veterans who have served. I've always had great respect for the men and women who dedicate part of their lives to protecting our country. Both of my grandfathers served, along with several uncles in the Army and Navy, so military service runs deep in my family.
I almost joined myself. Back in high school, with a baby on the way, I seriously considered the Air Force. It felt like the right path for a while, especially since one of my childhood dreams was to be an astronaut. Maybe that could've been the start of that journey. But in the end, I chose college and computers instead. Funny how one decision at 17 can change everything. Instead of flying planes, I ended up teaching Microsoft Access. Not exactly zero gravity, but helping others learn is a good adventure in its own way.
And I know I mentioned it in the video I posted earlier today, but in case you didn't watch it, any of you who are active U.S. duty military or veterans - U.S. military veterans - make sure you let me know. Contact me or post a comment down below. I just added a U.S. military flag badge to the website, so I'll definitely let you show your pride that way somehow. I don't know.
So to all the veterans out there: thank you again for your service, your sacrifice, and your example. You make the rest of us proud.
Thank you Richard! When I was a Senior in HS, I wanted to join the Army so I could command tanks. But my Father (who was enlisted USAF) and a Teacher I highly respected, convinced me to go to college. So I went to college, signed up for USAF ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corp) and got both an engineering degree and a commission as a LT. in the USAF. As they say, the rest is history. Never got to be an astronaut, but I did get to support them for eight years at the Johnson Space Center, TX. LLAP!
