Every year right around December, the same question pops up: where did all the new videos go? So let me explain the holiday slowdown before anyone assumes I've fallen off the face of the planet.

The reason you don't see a flood of brand-new videos from me in late December isn't because I've lost motivation or vanished. Yes, I do take some time off to spend with my wife and enjoy the holidays. That part's true. But the bigger reason is simple math. This time of year, video views drop off a cliff, both on my site and YouTube. People are traveling, unplugging, visiting family, and generally not thinking about databases, queries, or work-related learning. Historically, my views are often around 20% of normal during this period. When there just aren't many eyeballs, it doesn't make much sense to release big new content.

This isn't unique to me. It's the same reason late-night talk shows go on hiatus around the holidays and the networks aren't cranking out new episodes. When the audience is away, you save the new material for when people are actually watching. So if you see a repost this week, like today's video, that's intentional. It's still relevant, still useful, and it lets me pace things intelligently instead of shouting into the void.

The good news is I've got plenty in the pipeline. I'm recording a bunch of new material across several projects, and you'll start seeing new releases very soon. Expect a couple of things next week, and then a lot more once we get past the first of the year. I haven't gone anywhere.

Some people treat it like a joke, but the idea behind it actually makes a lot of sense to me.

So enjoy the holidays however you celebrate them, or even if you don't. Relax, unplug if you can, and rest assured that plenty of new content is on the way.
