Students who acquire large amounts of knowledge but do not know what to do with it or how to apply it for the common good have wasted their education.

Data Tin Man Music Video

This is amaze-balls. It's only a matter of time before AI-generated fan creations are actually producing better material than the official Paramount Star Trek stuff. Just look at the quality of this.

What do you think?

Thanks to Platinum Member Terrell Bales for bringing this to my attention.

So, yes, great video. However, I have to point out that it's likely that none of those actors received any compensation for the use of their images, let alone the years they spend creating the personas we enjoy seeing. Would a video using unknown figures brought any amount of satisfaction? I also suspect Doughtry would like some compensation for the clearly purloined voice files.

If the artists receive reasonable compensation for use of their images, then I'm totally fine with AI going to town.

Sorry to throw cold water on this, but I am firmly behind protection of the rights of the human artists. Let AI create its own personas. Oh wait, it can't...

Michael I agree with you 100 percent, but I'm pretty sure that that video wasn't monetized at all. I tried playing it in an incognito window, and I didn't see any ads pop up. As long as no one's making money on it, then it falls under fair use.

I think that's also a good thing, because it allows fans to make creations like that. If they want to do it on their own time without making any compensation, then that's on them. There are some really good fans' Star Trek episodes out there that they don't monetize, and they're not receiving any money. They do it on their own time and at their own expense, and that's a good thing too.

If anyone was making money off of this, then by all means those people need to get compensated for their likenesses.

Sam I love it. That's a great one, especially Uhura on the drums.

Sevenescence - ha! At least this time they’re crediting the voice clone (although still inferior to Amy Lee). Oh for the days of Voyager and not the steaming 💩 pile that is SFA.

Michael agreed... although I didn't terribly mind last week's episode. I can't stand Tilly, but the episode wasn't too bad. I didn't completely hate it.
