Thomas those are my favorite type of penguin: African penguins. They're not quite tropical, but they do nest in South Africa. I plan to visit them one day. See: Penguin Town
Also Galapagos penguins live right on the equator! These are the only penguins that are truly tropical, AND they're the only penguins that can be found in the northern hemisphere.
And unfortunately, it's illegal to own a penguin anywhere in the United States. Unless you are certified to care for them and are working for an established penguin sanctuary, the best you can get is swimming with penguins, which is what I flew to Wichita, Kansas, a couple of years ago to do. It was awesome. :)

The Galapagos Islands are kinda close to me. Lots of tourism heads there. Now I have a reason to go.
I think it was Sea World in San Diego that had a penguin exhibit when I was a kid. I remember getting to feed a few of them after the show. I was more concerned with how bad my hand smelled afterwards.

Richard Wouldn't your pool boy love cleaning up if you owned one?
I would love to have one... I'd have to convert the pool to salt water, but I don't care. Right now, pretty much only the dogs swim in it (I stick to the hot tub most days). But yeah, penguins don't smell the best. They poop everywhere and it always smells like fish. But I don't care. They're adorable, friendly, and smart.

Your dogs would have a field day chasing them around.
I'd still be careful. Even though my boys are really gentle, their breed WAS selected for retreiving water fowl. LOL

Penguins do end up quite tender after nine hours in a Traeger smoker. Their little skins can be deep fried like pork rinds or sewn together in a coat pattern to make a real fashion statement.
I've been holding off making different reaction options instead of just "like" as you see on other sites like Facebook. But James you have inspired me to find time in my day to add an ANGRY FACE option.
