Richard, First thanks for taking the time to review my issue. I am attempting to create a spreadsheet that takes weekly data into account. I would like each week to be compared to the previous week. If the new week is greater than the previous week I need the cell to change to yellow. If any numbers throughout the weeks hit 80 or greater the cell should be green. Anything 79 or less should be red? (yellow is the improvement color) I am able to have the green and red, this is a simple format. However the yellow is making me crazy? Please help Answer from Richard Rost:
Since you didn't say what version of Excel you're using, I'm going to assume Excel 2007.
All you have to do is click on your cell (let's say B1) and then click on Conditional Formatting > Highlight Cells Rules > Greater Than. Now type in or click on the cell you want to compare the value to (let's say A1). Pick a custom format (if you want yellow, you can pick yellow). That's it.
If you're using a version of Excel earlier than 2007, then you really should upgrade. Excel 2003 and earlier didn't have anywhere near as much flexibility with conditional formatting. You can still do something similar to this, but you're limited to only 3 conditions.
