I have a database for a church group that currently has around 500+ members. My dilemma is that some members are married twice and use hyphenated last names which could be, and are, at polar ends of the alphabet (e.g. - Cane-Rogers). Is there a way that I could sort these names by their current last name while keeping the hyphenated name for queries and reports? I thought of using an IIF statement, but not quite sure of how to go about it. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks for looking....

I believe the de facto standard is that a hyphenated name is treated as one unit, and a non-hyphenated name is not. For instance, Harriet Beecher Stowe would be listed under "S", and Daniel Day-Lewis would be under "D". Someone who calls herself "Cane-Rogers" instead of "Cane Rogers" may be aware of this as well, and may have adopted the hyphenated version because she wanted to be under "C" instead of "R". So you need to find out what the prevailing standard is in your business or locality and set up your database accordingly.
