Subscript Out of Range
Christina Prindle

I'm going a little crazy here and I don't know what's wrong or why. I am trying to import a table into my access database. The table has no calculated fields and only has 9 columns but I keep receiving the error "Subscript Out of Range" I've imported single column spreadsheets with no issues I am not sure why this one is giving me so much trouble. The headers match the table in the database to the ones in the spreadsheet. It has about 2,000 rows and I would really hate to have to manually key all of those in. I tried doing only some of the rows with no success, I've tried cutting out a couple columns that have less rows with data in it tried making a new spreadsheet and copying the data over and even followed one suggestion to make a new database and transfer all the data from the original database to the new one and import into the new one all with no luck. Is their something I am missing? This is my first database.

First if you haven't already go watch the free Import Excel video.

It sounds like you may be trying to import the data directly into your table.  I would first get it into its own temporary table, clean it up, then using append queries add it to your tables.  There are many videos here on this site that are free to show you how.

If it doesn't work still, try changing all of the spreadsheet columns (Fields for Access) to text.  It might be you are having mixed data types in your Excel that don't mesh with Access.  The video above explains more.

While you are watching videos take a look at the FREE Access Beginner 1 then consider the Access Beginner 2for the small sum Richard charges.  When you make a purchase, even just $1, you can sign up as a member and bypass the restrictions placed on the Visitor posting.  Its easier to have a conversation and reply to one which, as of right now, you can't.
