Rode out Helene with just some strong winds and rain. No damage.
Cape Coral (where I live) and Fort Myers didn't have much damage. Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, to our north, had some pretty bad flooding.
So far, 43 deaths have been attributed to the storm up in the Big Bend area of Florida. This just underscores that if you live near the coast and there's a storm surge coming, GET OUT. People died in Fort Myers Beach two years ago during Ian because of storm surge. Don't mess around people. Your house isn't worth your life.
I spoke too soon. Turns out we had a tiny bit of damage... some water came in thru my office window. Nothing some towels, a fan, and a little caulk can't fix.
