I am your instructor, Richard Rost.In today's class, we are going to learn about the different parts of Photoshop, how to open images, and creating new images. We will learn how to use the brush tools and how to change colors. We will see how to edit images and add text to your images. We will teach you about layers and how they work, and we will go over some of Photoshop's selection tools. Before taking this course, we recommend you take our Windows 101 Introduction to PCs course and either our Windows 102 Intro to Windows 98 or Windows 110 Intro to Windows XP courses. This course is designed for Adobe Photoshop 7. We will also be using Windows XP in this class, but it does not matter which version of Windows you have. Our goal for today's class is to get you up and running editing graphics quickly in about an hour. There is a lot of theory that we are going to skip in today's class, and we will come back to it in future lessons. In today's class, we are going to focus on being productive quickly. We are going to open up some graphics, show you how to use some of the basic tools, and teach you how to make changes to your graphics. There are literally hundreds of ways you can edit graphics, apply filters, work with layers, change your tools, and edit your colors. We will cover those as needed. We are going to start off basic today, and in future lessons we will get more complex as we go on with different projects. When learning with a 599CD course, we recommend you watch each lesson completely through from start to finish. Focus on the material in that lesson. Then, watch the lesson again, following along with the examples on your computer. Some students like to watch the entire course from start to finish and then go back through each lesson again and follow along with each lesson. Whichever way you choose, you will benefit from watching the lesson first and then following along with the examples. QuizQ1. What is the primary focus of Photoshop 101: Introduction to Photoshop?A. SummaryToday's video from Photoshop Learning Zone is all about giving you a solid introduction to Adobe Photoshop. I am your instructor, Richard Rost, and in this lesson, I will walk you through the essential features of Photoshop, especially for those who are brand new to the software. We will start by exploring the different parts of the Photoshop interface so you can become comfortable navigating the program. I will show you how to open existing images and how to create new ones from scratch. You will learn how to use basic tools, focusing on the brush tools, including how to change colors to suit your projects. We will also get into some basic image editing techniques and how to add text to your images to enhance your designs. Understanding layers is critical in Photoshop, so I will explain what layers are and how they work. You will also get introduced to some of Photoshop's selection tools, which are very important for isolating and working on parts of your image. Before taking this course, I recommend that you complete our introductory courses on Windows, which will give you a strong foundation for working with your computer and make your Photoshop learning experience smoother. Even though this class is based on Adobe Photoshop 7 and demonstrated using Windows XP, the version of Windows you have should not impact your ability to follow along. The main goal of today's class is to help you get started editing graphics as quickly as possible, ideally within about an hour. We will keep things practical and skip over heavy theory for now. You will have a chance to learn about more advanced topics in follow-up lessons, where we will tackle more complex projects step by step. In this class, I want to make sure you can be productive right away. We will work with some graphics, use basic tools, and make simple changes, giving you a hands-on understanding of Photoshop's capabilities. Photoshop offers countless ways to manipulate and enhance your digital images, and though we will just scratch the surface today, you will build a strong foundation for future learning. To get the most out of this course, I encourage you to watch each lesson from beginning to end before trying the examples yourself. This way, you can focus fully on the explanation. Then, go back and work through the examples on your computer. Some students prefer to watch the whole course first, then repeat each lesson and practice alongside. Use whichever method works best for you, but always aim to watch the lesson first, then practice. You can find a complete video tutorial with step-by-step instructions on everything discussed here on my website at the link below. Live long and prosper, my friends.
