IntroIn lesson 204, you will learn about filters in Adobe Photoshop 7, including how to use the sharpen, blur, artistic, and brush strokes filters to enhance your images. I will show you what each filter does and provide sample images so you can see the effects in action. This class is designed to help you get familiar with different Photoshop filters and how they can be applied, and it follows the material covered in Photoshop 203. This is part 1 of 2.TranscriptWelcome to Photoshop 204, brought to you by PhotoshopLearningZone.com. I am your instructor, Richard Rost. This is part one of two of my courses on Photoshop's filters.Photoshop filters can be used to add all kinds of different effects to your images. In today's class, we are going to learn the sharpen, blur, artistic, and brush strokes filters. This class follows Photoshop 203. I strongly recommend you take Photoshop 203, and all the classes before it, before taking this class. The sample images that I am going to be using in today's class can be found on the website at PhotoshopLearningZone.com/studentfiles. In today's class, I am going to be using Adobe Photoshop 7. However, most of the filters that I am going to show you are in pretty much every version of Photoshop. I recommend you watch each lesson once through, and then watch it again following along with the examples. While we are studying filters, my goal is to basically teach you what each filter does. It is not as important that you go through and follow along with my examples and add the effects that I add to the pictures. Just get familiar with the different filters and how they can be used to enhance your images. If you have any questions about the material covered in today's class, feel free to post your questions in the student forums. If you are watching this class in my custom video software, you will see the student forums for each lesson pop up to the right of the video. If you are watching the lessons online, you will also see the little student forum window pop up on the right-hand side. QuizQ1. What is the primary focus of Photoshop 204, part one?A. SummaryToday's video from Photoshop Learning Zone covers the first part of a two-part series on using filters in Photoshop. In this class, I am focusing on the various effects you can achieve using the sharpen, blur, artistic, and brush strokes filters. This course picks up directly after Photoshop 203, and I highly encourage you to complete that class, as well as all previous ones in the series, before starting this lesson to ensure you have a solid foundation. For hands-on practice, the images used throughout this session are available for download on the PhotoshopLearningZone.com student files page. I am demonstrating everything using Adobe Photoshop 7, but keep in mind that nearly all the filters you will see are also available in other versions of Photoshop, so you will be able to follow along no matter which version you have. My recommendation is to watch each lesson all the way through the first time, and then go back and follow along with the steps at your own pace. While our focus is on filters, my main objective is to help you understand what each filter does and how it affects your images. Try not to worry too much about replicating each step exactly as I do. Instead, use this opportunity to get familiar with the different filters so you can learn how they might enhance your own projects. If any questions come up as you work through the material, you are welcome to post them in the student forums. For those using my custom video software, the student forums for each lesson will appear on the right side of the video. If you are watching online, a similar forum window will pop up there as well. You can find a complete video tutorial with step-by-step instructions on everything discussed here on my website at the link below. Live long and prosper, my friends.
