IntroIn lesson 205, you will learn about the wide variety of filters available in Adobe Photoshop 7, including sketch, distort, pixelate, noise, render, stylize, and texture filters. We will discuss what each filter does, walk through sample effects on images, and explore how you can experiment with your own photos to get creative results. This lesson continues from Photoshop 204, where we covered sharpen, blur, artistic, and brush strokes filters.TranscriptWelcome to Photoshop 205 brought to you by PhotoshopLearningZone.com. I am your instructor, Richard Rost. This is part two of my Photoshop Filters courses. In part one, we learned about the sharpen and blur filters, as well as the artistic filters and the brush strokes filters. In this class, we are going to learn about most of the rest of the filters: sketch, distort, pixelate, noise, render, stylize, and my favorite, the texture filters. There are lots and lots of different filters in today's class. Of course, I do strongly recommend that you take Photoshop 204 before taking this class. That's part one of the Photoshop Filters classes. All of the sample images for this class can be found online on the website at PhotoshopLearningZone.com/studentfiles. I will be using Photoshop 7 in today's class. However, you'll find that most of these filters are pretty much exactly the same in the other versions of Photoshop. I recommend you sit back, relax, watch each lesson through completely, and then follow along with the examples. Once again, it's not incredibly important that you use my sample images and do the exact filter effects that I do. But if you've got some sample photographs there, perhaps stuff you've scanned in or taken with your digital camera, it would be a good thing to play with each filter. I am only going to show you some of the effects that these filters can do. Really, the best way to learn is by playing around with them and applying the filters to your photos. If you have any questions, post them in the student forums. If you're watching these videos either on my website or in my custom software, you'll find the student forum for each lesson popped up to the right side of each of the videos. If you have questions about the material covered in today's class, please feel free to post them in the student forum. QuizQ1. Which filter categories will be covered in Photoshop 205?A. SummaryToday's video from Photoshop Learning Zone continues our exploration of filters in Photoshop. This is the second part of my Photoshop Filters courses. Previously, in part one, I covered the sharpen and blur filters as well as the artistic and brush strokes filters. In this class, I shift focus to the remaining major groups of filters available in Photoshop. We will work with sketch, distort, pixelate, noise, render, stylize, and texture filters. The texture filters in particular are among my personal favorites, and I will show you why. You will see there is a wide range of filters available for you to experiment with in this session. I strongly advise you to complete Photoshop 204 before beginning this course, as it covers the foundational filters and will provide the background you need. All the sample images I use during the lessons are available for download on the website in the student files section. For this tutorial, I am demonstrating the techniques using Photoshop 7, but you will find that most of the filters work very similarly in other versions of the program, so you can follow along regardless of which Photoshop release you have. My suggestion is to relax and watch each lesson all the way through first. Afterwards, you can try following along with your own examples. It is not essential that you use the exact images I demonstrate with. If you have photographs from your own archives, such as pictures you've scanned in or taken with your digital camera, I encourage you to experiment with those. I will only be highlighting a handful of what these filters are capable of, but real understanding comes from trying out the filters yourself and seeing what effects you can achieve. If you have questions at any point, you are welcome to post them in the student forums. When you are using either the website or my custom software to watch the lessons, you will find access to the student forum for each lesson alongside the video. Should you have any questions about the techniques covered in today's class, please don't hesitate to ask in the forum. You can find a complete video tutorial with step-by-step instructions on everything discussed here on my website at the link below. Live long and prosper, my friends.
