Transcript Welcome to another video rewind brought to you by ComputerLearningZone.com. I'm your instructor, Richard Rost. This is just a quick recap of the videos released in July 2024. To watch any of the videos mentioned, visit my website at ComputerLearningZone.com.
We started off with a video on how to store multiple options for sex and gender in your Microsoft Access database. This one generated a lot of feedback, both positive and negative. Alex released a video on installing Visual Studio and also started a section on PowerShell, so he has a bunch of tech help videos available for PowerShell.
We learned how to use the Previous control property in Access, how to properly relate students and parents together, and how to fix your old records. I released a template on using unbound forms. These forms don't have a record source in the form itself, but when the form loads, you connect to whatever table or query you're using. This is very handy if you don't want to store a password from a password-protected database, whether it's an Access backend, SQL Server, or another system. I discuss this in more detail in my security flaw video.
I showed you how to find the second-to-last date, like the second-to-last order a customer placed. Finding the last one is easy - you just use DMAX - but what about the second-to-last one? We learned how to use a web-based weather API to pull current weather information from the internet into our Microsoft Access database. Finally, we ended the month by building a big button form database, where you get large buttons that can replace a combo box or list box if you're designing a database for a tablet or any device where users with big fingers need to push buttons instead of scrolling through a list. This series is still ongoing, up to part six, with a couple more planned. It's been very popular.
That's it for your video rewind for July 2024. To watch any of these videos, visit my website at ComputerLearningZone.com or use the short link, 599cd.com. As always, live long and prosper, and I'll see you next month for a recap of August. Take care.
